How it plays

How does Galaxian play?

Galaxian is played from a fixed side-on perspective. The spacecraft moves horizontally along the bottom of the screen while enemy formations occupy the upper area.

The objective is to destroy every alien in a wave without being hit. Enemies periodically dive toward the player, fire shots, and return to formation or leave the screen. The player can fire upward, but the single-shot limitation encourages deliberate timing. Clearing a wave advances the game and increases the challenge through more aggressive attack patterns.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Galaxian?

Stay near the center until an enemy commits to a dive, then move under the attack path and fire as it approaches. Avoid hugging either edge, since a diving enemy or projectile can leave little room to escape.

Prioritize aliens that break formation and watch the upper rows for incoming shots. Fire deliberately rather than holding the button constantly, because the game limits the number of shots that can be active at once. Learn the timing of each wave and favor survival over risky shots at the edge of the screen.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use short horizontal movements to keep the spacecraft aligned with diving enemies.

  2. 2

Watch for projectiles from the formation before beginning a long move.

  3. 3

Clear dangerous attackers first instead of chasing distant targets.
