How it plays

How does HeroQuest play?

The game uses a top-down view of individual dungeon rooms and corridors. A party consisting of a Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard explores each quest, completes its objective, and attempts to return safely after confronting monsters and traps.

Each hero moves, attacks, searches, and uses equipment during turn-based play. Doors reveal new sections of the map, while treasure and surviving enemies affect the party’s resources. Completing quests allows the heroes to continue through the campaign and improve their equipment.

What is the best way to play HeroQuest?

Explore methodically and avoid separating the party. Keep durable heroes near the front, while the Wizard and Elf remain protected behind them.

Search rooms carefully, conserve healing and combat resources, and do not rush toward unexplored doors. Equipment and spells are limited, so use them for dangerous encounters rather than routine fights.
