How it plays

How does Hollywood Squares play?

The game presents the familiar nine-square board from a front-facing game-show perspective. Contestants select a square, hear a question and celebrity response, then decide whether the response is right or wrong.

Correct judgments place the contestant's marker on the selected square. The objective is to complete a line of three, while also preventing the opponent from doing so. Its primary appeal is local, turn-based play rather than action, with progress determined by answers and board position.

What is the best way to play Hollywood Squares?

Treat every square as a tactical choice, not merely a trivia opportunity. When two opponent markers are aligned, blocking that line is usually more important than taking an unrelated square.

Pay attention to the wording of the question and the plausibility of the celebrity's response. If uncertain, compare the available winning and blocking moves before committing, because a single judgment can decide the board.
