Explore towns, roads, and other areas from an overhead perspective while recruiting party members and searching for clues. Random encounters lead to turn-based battles in which characters use physical attacks, psychic abilities, and items.

Progress depends on finding equipment, learning abilities, gaining experience, and discovering where to travel next. The game provides little explicit direction, so careful mapping and frequent experimentation are important.

Record locations, conversations, items, and unexplored routes because the game gives limited guidance. Avoid assuming that the next visible area is safe; enemies can be dangerous early in the adventure.

Build experience and improve equipment before attempting unfamiliar regions. Save regularly and keep backup notes about objectives, since navigation and progression can otherwise become difficult to reconstruct.
