How it plays
IronSword is viewed from the side and is organized around large scrolling areas rather than short, isolated stages. Kuros explores forests, caverns, ruins, and other hostile locations while searching for sword pieces, keys, treasures, and useful equipment.
The player runs, jumps, climbs, ducks, attacks with the sword, and uses collected items to survive. Enemies and environmental hazards cause damage, while exploration gradually opens access to new areas and major encounters. The main objective is to assemble the IronSword and defeat Malkil.
Plan your run
Learn enemy positions before committing to a jump, especially in narrow platforms and areas with hazards. Keep Kuros equipped with the strongest available sword and use defensive or offensive items when approaching difficult encounters.
Explore thoroughly for sword pieces, keys, treasure, and equipment. Do not rush through unfamiliar rooms: ladders and ledges often provide safer routes, while a missed item can make later sections much harder.

Developed by Zippo Games and published by Acclaim Entertainment, IronSword: Wizards & Warriors II is a fantasy action-platform game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The player controls the knight Kuros as he travels through dangerous regions to recover the pieces of the legendary IronSword and confront the wizard Malkil. Exploration, sword fighting, jumping, ladders, and item collection form the core play style. Its large stages and high difficulty earned it recognition as a demanding follow-up to Wizards & Warriors, while its colorful presentation and substantial adventure helped it remain a notable NES action title.
