Dr. Alan Grant
The playable paleontologist who explores Isla Nublar and attempts to survive the dinosaur outbreak.
How it plays
The game uses a top-down perspective. Dr. Grant explores separate areas of the park, searches for useful objects, avoids or fights dinosaurs, and works toward objectives needed to escape the island.
Progress depends on exploring routes, collecting equipment, managing ammunition, and finding ways through blocked or dangerous sections. The game is primarily a single-player adventure with continuous exploration rather than a stage-based score attack.
Plan your run
Explore methodically and remember important locations, because the park’s layout can be confusing. Conserve ammunition for dangerous encounters instead of firing at every dinosaur.
Search side paths for equipment and useful items, and retreat when an encounter is unfavorable. Careful route planning is often more valuable than aggressive combat.

Jurassic Park for the Nintendo Entertainment System is an action-adventure game developed and published by Ocean Software in 1993. It presents an overhead view of Isla Nublar, where Dr. Alan Grant must survive a dinosaur outbreak while exploring the park and completing objectives. The play style combines maze-like exploration, item collection, environmental obstacles, and ranged combat against dinosaurs and other hazards. The NES version is a distinct adaptation rather than a direct conversion of the film’s larger-console games. Contemporary and later reception has generally regarded it as an ambitious but difficult licensed title, with its exploration and atmosphere receiving more praise than its awkward combat, sparse guidance, and demanding navigation.
