How it plays

How does Mario Tennis play?

Matches use a top-down court view. The player moves into position, chooses a shot, and attempts to place the ball beyond the opponent’s reach while following normal tennis scoring.

The main progression centers on a single-player tournament and training structure. Victories unlock stronger opponents and improve the player character’s abilities. Exhibition and multiplayer play provide shorter matches outside the campaign.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Mario Tennis?

Position early and use controlled shots rather than striking at maximum power every time. Aim away from the opponent and change direction during longer rallies.

In the campaign, training and repeated practice are important because improved attributes make later tournament matches more manageable. Learn each opponent’s preferred court position before relying on risky shots.
