How it plays
The game is viewed from a first-person perspective. Each mission gives Patterson a set of objectives, such as recovering intelligence, destroying equipment, rescuing personnel, or reaching an extraction point.
Players move through military installations, villages, trains, and other wartime locations while using pistols, rifles, submachine guns, explosives, and enemy weapons. Some missions reward cautious movement and disguise-oriented behavior, while others become direct firefights.
Progression follows a linear campaign divided into missions and objectives. Completing tasks and surviving the level advances the story; the game does not use a character-leveling system.
Plan your run
Read the mission objectives carefully and conserve ammunition when a task requires infiltration. Search rooms and bodies for useful weapons, ammunition, and mission items.
Use cover and short controlled bursts rather than exposing Patterson in open areas. When a mission calls for sabotage or recovery, complete the objective before engaging unnecessary enemies, then follow the route to extraction.

Before you begin
Check corners before entering rooms, especially around fixed gun positions.
Keep a reliable firearm available after experimenting with enemy weapons.
Objective markers and mission briefings are more important than defeating every enemy.
Medal of Honor is a first-person shooter developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Electronic Arts for the original PlayStation. It casts the player as Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson, an OSS operative sent behind enemy lines during World War II. Missions combine firefights, infiltration, sabotage, reconnaissance, and escapes across occupied Europe. The game emphasizes period weapons and objective-based scenarios rather than unrestricted arena combat. Its cinematic presentation, wartime atmosphere, and stealth-focused objectives helped distinguish it from many contemporary console shooters. Although the PlayStation hardware imposed technical limits, Medal of Honor was generally well received for its strong sense of place and ambitious mission design. It became the foundation for a long-running military shooter series.
