How it plays
Mega Man is viewed from the side in a sequence of single-screen and scrolling platform stages. Players choose among six Robot Master stages, navigate hazards and enemies, and defeat a boss at the end of each route.
Defeated Robot Masters provide special weapons with limited ammunition. Weapon weaknesses create a recommended order, while energy tanks and other pickups help with difficult sections. After the six stages, the game continues through Dr. Wily’s fortress.
Plan your run
Study enemy patterns before committing to jumps, and use the stage select screen to exploit weapon weaknesses. The exact weakness order is not required for completion, but matching weapons to bosses can make several fights much easier.
Conserve special-weapon ammunition for bosses and difficult obstacles. Search stages for energy tanks, and remember that Mega Man can return to completed stages if additional resources are needed.

Mega Man is a side-scrolling action-platform game developed by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The player controls Mega Man, a blue combat robot who must defeat six Robot Masters and stop Dr. Wily’s plans. Each stage combines precise jumping, enemy encounters, and pattern-based boss fights, with defeated bosses granting new weapons. This supplied version is a graphic hack credited to Dragonsbrethren, with the subtitle “Protoman - The Red Bomber”; reliable information about changes beyond its presentation is limited. The original game received a mixed initial response but later became highly regarded for its demanding controls, open stage selection, memorable bosses, and weapon-based progression.
