The Final Fantasy Legend
Game BoyRole-Playing Game
How it plays
Players take turns rolling, moving around the board, and resolving the space they reach. Unowned properties can be purchased, while owned properties charge rent when opponents land on them.
The game includes the standard property groups, railroads, utilities, Chance and Community Chest spaces, taxes, jail, and bankruptcy rules. Players can trade properties and manage houses or hotels as their finances develop. Computer opponents provide solo play, while hot-seat multiplayer allows players to share the Game Boy in turn.
Plan your run
Track cash before buying or developing property; an attractive color group is not useful if it leaves you unable to pay rent or taxes.
Before you begin
Prioritize completing a color group over collecting isolated properties.
Avoid spending your entire cash reserve on a single purchase.
Remember that opponents can use trades to complete groups as well.
Monopoly for Game Boy is a handheld board-game adaptation developed by Sculptured Software and published by Ocean Software. It recreates the familiar property-trading premise in which players move around a board, buy real estate, collect rent, and try to drive their opponents into bankruptcy. The game is primarily turn-based and can be played against computer-controlled opponents or with other players through hot-seat play. Its monochrome presentation is functional rather than elaborate, with menus and board information designed for the small Game Boy screen. Reception was generally shaped by the appeal of having Monopoly in a portable format, although the limited display and slower interface make it less immediate than playing with a physical board.
