How it plays
How does Morita Shogi play?
Morita Shogi uses a top-down board view and follows standard shogi rules. Players move pieces across the nine-by-nine board, capture opposing pieces, and may later return captured pieces to the board as their own in accordance with shogi rules. The central objective is to checkmate the opponent's king.
Play proceeds turn by turn against the computer. Progress is determined by the quality of each move rather than by levels, equipment, or character upgrades. The available challenge settings and other modes are not documented here.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Morita Shogi?
Protect the king while developing pieces toward the center and keeping your major pieces supported. Before moving, check every possible capture, promotion, and counterattack.
Captured pieces can re-enter play, so avoid assuming that a cleared line is permanently safe. Calculate the opponent's reply before committing to a capture or promotion.
