Liu Kang
Shaolin champion who uses fireballs, flying kicks, and rapid bicycle kicks.
How it plays
Matches use a side-view arena and one-on-one rounds. The objective is to deplete the opponent's life bar twice before the timer expires; a final round win ends the bout.
Players walk, crouch, jump, block, attack, perform special moves, and use character-specific finishing moves. The ladder introduces opponents in sequence, with endurance-style challenges and bosses appearing near the end.
Running and chain combos make the neutral game faster than earlier entries. Each fighter has distinct special techniques, range, speed, and finishing inputs.
Plan your run
Learn one reliable punish and one safe way to approach with each fighter. Block patiently, then retaliate after a missed special move or unsafe chain.
Use running and chain combos to maintain pressure, but avoid spending the entire match attacking blindly. Save your strongest finishing input for the final winning round and practice it before entering the ladder.
Against Shao Kahn, keep distance when he raises his hammer, punish his recovery, and avoid jumping predictably.

Mortal Kombat 3 is a one-on-one fighting game developed and published by Midway Games. The DOS version brings the arcade sequel's roster, arenas, finishing moves, and tournament structure to IBM-compatible computers. Players choose a warrior and fight through a ladder of increasingly difficult opponents while resisting Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm. Its play style combines high, low, and jumping attacks with special moves, chain combos, and character-specific fatalities. The game was received as a technically ambitious sequel with fast combat and notable additions, although some players considered its roster and tone less satisfying than Mortal Kombat II. The DOS conversion is historically significant but differs in performance and presentation from the arcade original.
