How it plays

How does Platoon play?

Platoon uses a primarily side-view perspective, with some areas functioning as maze-like exploration sequences. The objective is to move through successive combat zones, avoid or defeat enemy soldiers, collect useful items, and locate the route onward.

The player advances by walking, jumping, firing weapons, and managing limited resources. Stages vary in layout and hazards, including jungle paths, buildings, tunnels, and traps. Progress depends more on memorizing routes and recognizing enemy patterns than on character development or an experience system.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Platoon?

Move carefully and learn each screen before committing to a jump or attack. Conserve ammunition for enemies that block narrow passages, and search side paths for useful items.

Enemy patterns and hazards are often easier to handle after memorization. When entering a new area, prioritize identifying safe ground, escape routes, and the position of the next objective rather than moving quickly.
