How it plays
Each stage presents a row of buildings viewed from the side. Monsters climb the structures, punch walls and windows, eat food or civilians, and move across the skyline while tanks, helicopters, soldiers, and other hazards attack them.
The objective is to destroy enough of the city to advance. Damage can expose occupants and items, but monsters must avoid enemy fire and falling hazards. One or two players can select different monsters and cooperate or compete as they progress through successive city screens.
Plan your run
Climb from the sides of buildings and keep moving instead of remaining exposed on a rooftop. Punch windows and walls to reveal food, then eat when safe to recover health.
Watch for tanks and helicopters before committing to a long climb. In two-player games, split across nearby buildings when possible so enemy fire is not concentrated on one monster.

Before you begin

In two-player games, coordinate attacks so one monster can distract enemies while the other climbs.
Rampage is an arcade-style action game developed by Bally Midway and adapted for the Sega Master System by Activision. The player controls a giant monster—George, Lizzie, or Ralph—whose objective is to demolish city blocks, eat people, and survive military attacks. The game uses simple side-view controls and supports one or two players, with each monster offering the same basic play style. Its destructive premise and cooperative monster action made the arcade original memorable. The Master System version brings that straightforward formula to a home console, with a more limited presentation but the same focus on climbing, smashing, and clearing buildings.
