How it plays
Rayman is viewed from the side across a sequence of platforming levels grouped into themed worlds. The main objectives are to defeat enemies, collect items, rescue Electoons, and eventually recover the Great Protoon.
Rayman begins with limited abilities and gains powers such as the telescoping punch, helicopter hair, swimming, and running. Progress opens new areas and makes earlier locations more rewarding to revisit. Bonus stages and hidden cages encourage thorough exploration, while the later levels demand accurate movement and enemy timing.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of Rayman's punch and use it from a safe distance whenever possible. Explore side paths instead of rushing toward the exit; cages and power-ups are often placed above, below, or behind the obvious route.
Return to earlier levels after gaining new abilities. In difficult stages, watch enemy patterns before committing to a jump, and use helicopter control to correct long falls rather than trying to move too quickly.

Rayman is a 2D platform game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. It follows the limbless hero Rayman as he travels through a colorful world disrupted by Mr Dark, who has captured the Electoons and weakened the Great Protoon. The game combines precise jumping, exploration, combat, and ability-based progression. Its hand-drawn presentation, varied environments, imaginative enemies, and demanding later stages earned strong critical reception, while its distinctive art direction helped establish Rayman as one of Ubisoft's best-known original characters. The PlayStation version is regarded as a major early showcase for the character and the series.
