How it plays
The game uses a top-down scrolling perspective in maze-like outdoor and underground areas. ZED must advance through each stage, defeat enemies, clear obstacles, and locate the exit while managing bombs, shots, health, and other supplies.
Stages contain destructible terrain, hidden passages, items, and hazards. Progression comes from collecting upgrades and learning enemy patterns; some routes require careful resource management rather than simply moving toward the next screen.
Plan your run
Conserve bombs and ammunition when possible, because supplies can become scarce in longer sections.
Search destructible walls for power-ups and hidden routes, and avoid rushing into unexplored screens where enemies or hazards may be waiting.
Learn the layout of each area and prioritize survival over defeating every enemy.
Meet the cast

Before you begin
Use bombs to open routes and destroy enemies, but keep a reserve for blocked passages.
Explore side paths for upgrades before committing to the stage exit.
Move cautiously around enemies that can attack from off-screen or around corners.
Robo Warrior is a side-scrolling action game developed by Hudson Soft and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. It stars the robot warrior ZED, who travels through dangerous stages to stop an invading enemy force. Although it derives ideas from Bomberman, the game is structured as an exploration-focused platform adventure rather than a fixed-screen arena game. Players place bombs, fire projectiles, collect power-ups, and search for routes through hostile terrain. Contemporary reception was mixed: reviewers often appreciated its distinctive mechanics and large levels, while also noting demanding navigation, limited resources, and uneven difficulty.
