How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective and follows a linear sequence of action stages. RoboCop moves through streets and interiors, jumps across obstacles, crouches when needed, and fires at enemies while avoiding projectiles and hazards.
Progress depends on surviving each section and defeating stage threats rather than building a long-term character level. The NES version emphasizes direct arcade-style play, with limited room for experimentation and repeated attempts often needed to learn enemy placement and hazards.
Plan your run
Learn enemy patterns before rushing forward, especially in areas with overlapping projectiles. Keep RoboCop positioned so that he can fire while minimizing exposure to attacks.
Use crouching and controlled jumps to handle hazards rather than moving continuously. Conservative progress is usually safer than trading damage, since difficult sections become more manageable after their enemy placements are memorized.

RoboCop 3 is a side-scrolling action game developed by Probe Software and published by Ocean Software for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It adapts the 1993 film, placing the armored police officer in a dystopian Detroit threatened by OCP’s redevelopment plans and armed opposition. The game combines platforming, shooting, close-range combat, and occasional vehicle-oriented action. RoboCop advances through hostile urban environments, defeats robotic and human enemies, and uses his weaponry to reach the end of each stage. Contemporary reception was mixed, with criticism commonly aimed at the uneven difficulty and less polished presentation compared with other NES action titles.
