How it plays

How does Romance of the Three Kingdoms V play?

The campaign is viewed from a strategic map of China. Each turn, the player issues orders to cities and officers, then advances the calendar while rival factions perform their own actions.

Typical objectives include expanding territory, developing cities, recruiting and appointing officers, managing supplies and funds, negotiating with neighboring rulers, and defeating opposing forces. Battles use a tactical map in which units move, attack, and use terrain or formation advantages. Progress comes from improving administration, assembling capable armies, capturing cities, and eventually eliminating or subordinating rival factions.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Romance of the Three Kingdoms V?

Build a reliable officer base before expanding aggressively. Assign officers according to their administrative and military strengths, and keep enough personnel in developed cities to maintain income and supplies.

Diplomacy can prevent several simultaneous wars. Scout enemy strength, protect supply lines, and attack isolated or poorly defended cities first. During battles, use terrain and formations deliberately rather than treating every engagement as a simple numbers contest.
