How it plays
How does Salamander play?
The game uses both horizontal- and vertically scrolling stages. The objective is to survive each stage, destroy enemy formations, and defeat a large boss at the end of the area.
The ship can move in eight directions and fire continuously. Power-ups improve the ship's offensive capabilities, while collisions, enemy projectiles, and environmental hazards can cost a life. The game supports one-player and cooperative two-player play, with progression structured as a fixed sequence of stages rather than a selectable campaign.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Salamander?
Learn the enemy patterns and keep the ship moving in small, controlled adjustments rather than making wide panic movements. Destroy power-up carriers early when it is safe, but avoid risky detours for items.
In vertical stages, watch the scrolling boundary and preserve a clear route through narrow spaces. Approach bosses with a full set of upgrades when possible, study their attack cycles, and prioritize survival over maximum firing distance.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Use short movements to stay aligned with incoming enemy patterns.
- 2
Collect upgrades only when the route to them is safe.
- 3
In two-player mode, coordinate positioning so both ships do not occupy the same escape route.
