How it plays

How does Sensible Soccer play?

Matches use a top-down view of the full pitch. The player controls one footballer at a time while the game switches control to the player nearest the ball.

The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team before time expires. Players can pass, shoot, tackle, change direction, and defend space. Match and competition structures provide repeated games against different opponents, with progression determined by results rather than character development.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Sensible Soccer?

Use short passes to move defenders out of position, then attack the space behind them. Because the camera shows most of the pitch, look for unmarked players before committing to a run.

Defend by covering passing lanes and switching control early. Avoid excessive dribbling near your own goal, and vary shot direction instead of repeatedly aiming at the goalkeeper.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Keep possession with quick passes rather than holding the ball in crowded areas.

  2. 2

Use the wide areas to create crossing and shooting angles.

  3. 3

Track the opposing player nearest the ball when defending.
