Patrols require reading the chart, positioning the boat, identifying targets, and managing speed and depth without exposing the submarine unnecessarily.

The main objective is to locate and sink enemy vessels, then survive the response. Torpedoes must be aimed and launched at suitable opportunities, while evasive maneuvers and careful control of the submarine help avoid depth charges. Progress is based on successful patrol performance and combat results rather than a conventional level-up system.

Use the chart and periscope to gather information before committing to an attack. A submerged approach gives more concealment, but speed, depth, and visibility must be balanced against the need to reach a firing position.

Fire only when the target’s course and distance are favorable, then change position immediately after an attack. During a depth-charge response, vary depth and heading, avoid predictable straight routes, and check damage information before attempting another engagement.
