Ryu
Capcom’s disciplined Street Fighter martial artist and one of the game’s central protagonists.
How it plays
Players select SNK and Capcom fighters and battle in side-view, two-dimensional matches. The main objective is to deplete the opponent’s life gauge before the timer expires. Normal attacks, throws, special moves, power gauges, and defensive techniques form the core combat system.
Depending on the selected mode, players can fight individually, form teams, or use tag and special match rules. Victories and completed challenges unlock additional content and help open more demanding encounters. The handheld presentation uses compact sprites while retaining recognizable character moves and match structure.
Plan your run
Learn the range and recovery of each fighter’s normal attacks before relying on special moves. Use blocking and controlled movement to punish missed attacks, and save the power gauge for confirmed openings rather than spending it immediately.
In team and tag formats, choose characters with complementary ranges. Fast fighters can create openings, while characters with stronger reach or damage can finish rounds. Challenge modes reward learning matchups, timing, and the game’s different rule sets.

SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium is a portable crossover fighting game developed and published by SNK for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It brings together fighters from SNK series such as The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Shodown with characters from Capcom’s Street Fighter roster. Matches use compact two-dimensional arenas, simplified controls, and tactical special moves suited to the handheld system. The game includes one-on-one battles, team formats, tag-style variations, and challenge-oriented modes. Its responsive play, large crossover roster, and unusually substantial feature set were well received, making it one of the Neo Geo Pocket Color’s most notable fighting games.
