How it plays
The game is played from a third-person perspective across linear stages set in rooftops, warehouses, sewers, laboratories, and other locations. Objectives include defeating enemies, rescuing civilians, collecting items, and reaching the end of each area.
Spider-Man can jump, punch, kick, use several web attacks, cling to surfaces, and swing across gaps. Levels usually alternate between combat, traversal, platforming challenges, and boss encounters. Completing stages unlocks later missions, while collectibles and difficulty settings provide additional replay value.
Plan your run
Learn to combine web attacks with ordinary strikes rather than relying on one move. Use the environment to create distance, especially against groups of armed enemies and larger opponents.
Explore side paths before leaving an area. Web cartridges, health items, and hidden collectibles can make later encounters easier. During boss fights, watch attack patterns and save stronger web abilities for clear openings.

Spider-Man is a 2000 action-platformer developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the original PlayStation. It presents an original Spider-Man story in which Peter Parker is framed for a crime and must clear his name while confronting villains and a dangerous conspiracy. The game combines third-person platforming, hand-to-hand combat, web attacks, exploration, and set-piece encounters. Its comic-book presentation, energetic voice work, and faithful use of Spider-Man’s mobility made it a notable superhero game of its era. Contemporary reception was generally positive, especially for its story, humor, and sense of movement.
