How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective and follows a linear sequence of platforming stages. Spider-Man moves through hazards, climbs or jumps across sections, defeats enemies, and reaches villain encounters at the ends of stages.
The player uses Spider-Man's punches and web-based abilities in close combat while managing positioning and timing. Progression is stage-based, with the objective of clearing each area and defeating its featured antagonist. It is primarily a single-player experience with no documented multiplayer mode.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of Spider-Man's basic attack before advancing. Many enemies are easier to handle from a controlled distance or immediately after they commit to an attack.
Conserve health by avoiding unnecessary contact with hazards and by observing boss patterns. Approach each boss encounter patiently: attack during recovery openings, then reposition rather than repeatedly trading hits.

Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by B.I.T.S. and published by LJN for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. It adapts the Marvel storyline in which Spider-Man confronts a group of villains working together under Doctor Octopus. Players guide Spider-Man through dangerous urban and industrial stages, fighting ordinary enemies and members of the Sinister Six. The game emphasizes direct combat, jumping, and careful movement rather than exploration or role-playing systems. Reception was mixed: its recognizable license and challenging action appealed to some players, while critics commonly noted stiff controls, uneven difficulty, and repetitive combat.
