How it plays

How does Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! play?

Explore Avalar from a third-person perspective. Each home world connects to several realms containing gems, dragons or other objectives, talismans, orbs, and portals to optional challenges.

Spyro attacks by charging into suitable enemies or breathing fire, while jumping and gliding provide the main platforming tools. Moneybags unlocks abilities such as swimming, climbing, and headbash as the adventure progresses. Completing realm objectives and collecting orbs opens new areas and advances the story.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!?

Explore each realm methodically before leaving. Collect gems, complete the main objective, and look for high ledges or underwater routes that may require a later ability.

Use flame against enemies vulnerable to fire and charge against enemies that can be rammed safely. Return to earlier worlds after unlocking swimming, climbing, or headbash to reach previously inaccessible collectibles.

For challenge portals, learn the route before attempting a perfect run. Keep Sparx healthy by defeating small enemies and collecting butterflies when available.
