How it plays
The game uses side-scrolling stages alongside overhead combat areas. The objective is to advance through enemy territory, destroy targets, defeat bosses, and prevent the alien invasion from spreading.
Players move, jump, fire in eight directions, and collect weapon capsules that change their shots. Super C supports one-player and simultaneous two-player play. Completing stages and defeating bosses advances the campaign, but lives and continues are limited.
Plan your run
Learn enemy spawn points instead of rushing blindly, especially around stairs, bridges, and narrow platforms. Keep moving while firing diagonally to cover more approach angles.
Save spread or other strong weapons for crowded sections, but avoid unnecessary weapon changes. In two-player mode, coordinate movement so one player does not scroll the screen into danger for the other.
For overhead stages, clear enemies methodically and identify the route to the objective before entering open spaces.

Before you begin
The Spread weapon is especially useful against groups, but losing it can make later sections harder.
In overhead stages, watch the radar and avoid standing still while lining up shots.
Two-player cooperation is powerful, but both players share the screen and can interfere with positioning.
Editorial context
A fast, difficult NES run-and-gun with excellent weapon handling and memorable cooperative play.
Its short campaign is replayable because enemy patterns and stage layouts reward practice.
Super C is a run-and-gun action game developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the direct NES follow-up to Contra and sends two soldiers into a renewed battle against the Red Falcon forces and an alien threat. Players run, jump, shoot, and switch weapons through a compact sequence of side-scrolling and overhead stages. Its demanding enemy patterns, limited lives, and fast pace reward memorization and cooperation. Super C was well received for translating the arcade-style Contra formula effectively to the NES, although its difficulty remained a defining challenge.
