How it plays
Mario explores a free-choice world map containing themed zones such as Tree, Space, and Turtle. Each zone includes platforming stages, hidden rooms, power-ups, and a boss encounter protecting one Golden Coin.
The player runs, jumps, stomps enemies, collects coins, and uses power-ups including Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, and carrots that grant Bunny Mario abilities. Six Golden Coins are required to enter Wario’s castle and finish the adventure.
Plan your run
Explore each stage carefully before rushing to the goal. Hidden blocks and alternate routes often contain extra lives, power-ups, or bonus entrances.
Collect coins and use power-ups strategically, especially before boss rooms. The world map allows difficult zones to be postponed while you build familiarity with easier stages.

Before you begin
Look for suspicious walls, ceilings, and isolated platforms; many hide bonus areas.
Bunny Mario’s sustained jump is especially useful in vertical or wide-open stages.
You need all six Golden Coins to open the castle.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. Mario returns to reclaim his private island, which has been seized by Wario while he was away. The adventure is structured around several themed worlds, each containing stages, secrets, enemies, and a Golden Coin guarded by a boss. Compared with the original Super Mario Land, it offers more expressive movement, larger levels, and a world map that lets players choose their route. The game was widely praised for bringing a substantial and polished Mario experience to Nintendo’s monochrome handheld.
