How it plays
Players guide Mario or Luigi through a connected world map containing standard courses, castles, ghost houses, fortresses, and secret areas. The main objective is to reach each stage’s goal and eventually defeat Bowser, while optional exits open alternate routes and hidden levels.
Movement, jumping, running, power-ups, item carrying, cape flight, swimming, and Yoshi riding form the core actions. Progress is saved through the handheld’s save system, and discovered switch palaces permanently alter some stages.
Plan your run
Learn each level’s safe route before rushing toward the goal. Carry a reserve power-up when possible, and use Yoshi or the Cape Feather to explore difficult sections.
Search for keyholes, colored switch blocks, and hidden paths. Completing switch palaces and secret exits can simplify later stages and reveal alternate routes across the world map.

Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It adapts the 1990 Super Nintendo classic, following Mario and Luigi as they travel across Dinosaur Land to rescue Princess Peach and defeat Bowser. The game combines precise running and jumping with power-ups, secret exits, switch palaces, and Yoshi riding. Its portable presentation preserves the original’s broad world map and varied level design while adding quality-of-life changes and playable Luigi. Critics and players generally regarded it as one of the strongest handheld versions of a classic Mario adventure, although some audio and visual changes were debated.
