How it plays
The game uses a top-down, grid-based battlefield. Each mission has a defined objective, usually defeating enemy forces, protecting allied units, or reaching a designated result.
Units move and attack in alternating turns. Players select weapons according to range and ammunition or energy limits, while terrain and unit statistics affect combat. Completing scenarios advances the campaign and can add pilots, robots, weapons, or story events to the player's forces.
Plan your run
Use terrain and range to reduce incoming damage before committing to attacks. Keep fragile support units behind tougher machines and avoid ending a turn where several enemies can attack the same unit.
Check weapon ammunition and energy before each engagement. Focus fire on dangerous enemies, but preserve enough movement and firepower to satisfy the scenario objective rather than pursuing every unit on the map.

Super Robot Wars 2 is a 1991 tactical role-playing game developed by Winkysoft and published by Banpresto for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It brings together robots and pilots from several Japanese anime series in a turn-based campaign against the invading Principality of Zeon and other hostile forces. Battles take place on grid-based maps, where the player deploys a team, moves units, chooses weapons, and manages limited resources. Between missions, the story advances through dialogue and new units join the roster. The game is historically important because it established the crossover structure and strategic identity that defined the long-running Super Robot Wars series, although its presentation and systems are considerably simpler than later entries.
