Gabe Logan
A highly trained intelligence operative and the principal playable character in much of the campaign.
How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective. Players complete linear missions by reaching objectives, eliminating or avoiding targets, rescuing allies, collecting evidence, and escaping dangerous areas.
Gabe and Lian use firearms, hand-to-hand attacks, gadgets, and environmental cover. Missions may require stealth or precision, while other stages become direct firefights. Progression is chapter-based, with new locations, weapons, and playable-character scenarios unfolding through the campaign.
Plan your run
Study objectives before engaging. Silenced weapons and careful positioning are valuable when a mission rewards stealth, while armor-piercing or heavier weapons help against protected enemies.
Use cover, conserve ammunition, and check side rooms for equipment. When a mission imposes a time limit or escort requirement, move decisively rather than attempting to clear every enemy.

Before you begin

Use first-person aiming when precision is more important than movement.
Read mission objectives carefully; some failures come from missed targets or time limits.
Syphon Filter 2 is a third-person action game developed by Eidetic and published by 989 Studios for the original PlayStation. It continues the conspiracy-driven story of agent Gabe Logan and operative Lian Xing as they pursue the people behind the Syphon Filter bioweapon. Missions combine shooting, stealth, surveillance, timed escapes, and objective-based infiltration across varied locations. The game was noted for its cinematic presentation, broad weapon selection, and ambitious mission design. Its controls and difficulty can feel dated, but its mix of espionage, action, and story-heavy set pieces made it a well-regarded PlayStation sequel.
