How it plays
Exploration takes place from a top-down perspective on an overworld, in towns, and inside dungeons. The party travels between locations, investigates events, solves environmental puzzles, shops for equipment, and fights enemies in random encounters.
Battles move to a side-view arena. The player directly controls one party member while companions act according to assigned strategies. Attacks, artes, guarding, items, and positioning are used in real time. Experience, levels, equipment, and new techniques improve the party throughout the story.
Plan your run
Build a balanced party with at least one reliable healer and keep the controlled character near enemies so attacks and artes connect consistently.
Upgrade weapons and armor in each new town, carry restorative items, and adjust ally strategies when enemies resist physical or magical attacks. Save before major story events and optional dungeons.

Tales of Destiny is a Japanese action role-playing game developed by Wolf Team and published by Namco for the PlayStation. It follows Stahn Aileron, a young swordsman who discovers a sentient sword and becomes involved in a conflict threatening the world. The game combines exploration, towns, dungeon puzzles, conversations, and real-time side-view battles rather than using a purely turn-based system. Its animated presentation, voiced story scenes, and fast combat helped establish the series' identity on PlayStation. Reception was generally favorable in Japan, particularly for its battle system, character-driven story, and production values. The original version was not released officially in North America or Europe.
