How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective across linear stages set in streets, construction areas, sewers, and other locations. Players move, jump, attack Foot soldiers, and defeat a boss at the end of most stages.
Each turtle has a different reach, speed, and attack balance. Players can collect pizza to restore health and use a limited special attack by pressing A and B together. The two-player mode allows simultaneous cooperation, while progression is based on clearing stages rather than accumulating experience or equipment.
Plan your run
Use the turtle's range deliberately: Donatello can attack safely from farther away, while Raphael needs closer positioning. Jump over crowded groups instead of trading damage with every enemy.
Save the special attack for dense enemy waves or dangerous bosses. In two-player mode, spread out enough to avoid blocking one another, but regroup when pizza or a boss opening appears.
Watch enemy patterns and attack from the edge of the screen. Pizza pickups are limited, so avoid unnecessary hits before boss encounters.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It adapts the structure, enemies, bosses, and presentation of Konami's popular 1989 arcade game, while adding NES-exclusive content. Players guide one of the four turtles through a rescue mission after April O'Neil is kidnapped by the Foot Clan. The game supports one or two players and emphasizes straightforward combat, recognizable villains, and cooperative play. Its colorful graphics and faithful arcade-inspired action were well received, making it one of the more prominent licensed action games on the NES.
