How it plays

How does Tetris play?

Pieces fall into a rectangular well from a top-down, two-dimensional perspective. The objective is to move and rotate each piece so that completed horizontal lines disappear without allowing the stack to reach the top.

Players choose placements while the pieces descend, then continue through increasingly difficult play as the falling speed rises. The exact modes, scoring rules, preview display, and progression structure depend on the unidentified DOS release.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Tetris?

Keep the stack as low and flat as possible, leaving a vertical channel only when it supports a deliberate long-bar placement. Avoid creating isolated gaps that cannot be filled by the available pieces.

Plan for the next piece when a preview is shown, and use faster drops only when the landing position is already safe. Prioritize clearing several lines at once when doing so does not destabilize the stack.
