How it plays

How does Tetris Classic play?

Tetrominoes descend into a rectangular well viewed from the side. The player moves each piece horizontally, rotates it, and drops it into position before the stack reaches the top.

Completed horizontal lines disappear, increasing the score and creating room for further pieces. Play continues through rising speed or selectable difficulty, depending on the chosen mode; the central objective is to survive and build a high score.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Tetris Classic?

Keep the stack low and as flat as possible, while preserving a vertical opening for the long I tetromino. Avoid creating isolated holes beneath the surface, because they are difficult to fill.

At higher speeds, favor safe placements over elaborate setups. Rotate pieces early, watch the next piece if the interface provides that information, and clear lines regularly rather than allowing an unstable tower to grow.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Build from the bottom upward and avoid covered gaps.

  2. 2

Use the I tetromino for a four-line clear only when the well is otherwise stable.
