Takhisis
The Dark Queen and principal divine antagonist, whose forces threaten Krynn.
How it plays
The party explores towns, wilderness areas, ruins, and other locations from a first-person or text-and-map viewpoint. Story events, conversations, searches, and movement are handled through command menus, while battles switch to an overhead tactical map.
Combat is turn-based. Characters can move, attack, cast spells, use items, turn undead, or defend. Experience raises levels, treasure improves equipment, and spellcasters prepare a limited selection of spells. The campaign follows a sequence of scenarios with a persistent party and story progression.
Plan your run
Build a balanced party with durable front-line fighters, healing, arcane magic, and divine spellcasting. Keep several weapon types and useful support spells available because different encounters reward different tactics.
Scout before committing to combat, protect spellcasters from melee attacks, and rest only when the area is secure. Save frequently before major battles and conserve high-level spells for encounters that cannot be solved through ordinary attacks.
Meet the cast
The Dark Queen and principal divine antagonist, whose forces threaten Krynn.
Before you begin
Keep multiple save files before entering major areas.
Identify and manage equipment regularly; encumbrance and resistances matter.
Use area-effect spells carefully because friendly fire can turn a battle quickly.
The Dark Queen of Krynn is a party-based fantasy computer role-playing game developed and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. for DOS in 1992. It is the third Gold Box game set in the Dragonlance world and concludes the Krynn trilogy. Players create and lead an adventuring party during a renewed conflict with the armies of Takhisis, the Dark Queen. The game combines menu-driven exploration, tactical combat, character development, and story scenes based on the Dragonlance setting. It was generally regarded as a solid and atmospheric entry in SSI’s long-running Gold Box line, though its interface and presentation were already showing their age.
