Tom
The playable cat, pursuing Jerry through the game's platforming stages.
How it plays
The game uses a side-view platforming perspective. The player controls Tom, moving through linear stages while avoiding hazards, defeating or bypassing enemies, and reaching the end of each area.
Stages are built around platforms, gaps, obstacles, and collectible or interactive objects. Progress comes from completing successive areas; the game does not offer a large world map or extensive character development. Careful timing is more important than exploration.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of jumps before moving quickly. The Game Boy screen gives limited warning of hazards, so approach ledges and enemies cautiously.
Use safe platforms to control your position, avoid unnecessary contact with enemies, and preserve opportunities to recover from mistakes. Repetition is often the most effective way to memorize difficult sections.

The mouse at the center of Tom's pursuit and the game's cartoon-inspired conflict.
Before you begin
Move cautiously near screen edges because hazards may appear with little warning.
Practice difficult jumps rather than rushing through them.
Treat the game as a short, stage-based platformer rather than an exploration game.
Tom and Jerry in Mouse Attacks is a side-scrolling action platformer for the Game Boy, developed by Beam Software and published by Hi-Tech Expressions in 1992. It adapts the familiar cartoon rivalry into a series of compact stages in which Tom pursues Jerry through hazardous environments. The game emphasizes jumping, avoiding obstacles, and dealing with enemies rather than complex exploration or role-playing systems. Its monochrome presentation and short level structure reflect the technical limits of the original Game Boy. Reception was mixed: the recognizable license provided appeal, but contemporary and later assessments often criticized the stiff controls, repetitive play, and uneven difficulty.
