The Final Fantasy Legend
Game BoyRole-Playing Game
Documented for this version
Keyboard | Use the Game Boy directional pad for eight-way tank movement, A or B for fire and turret rotation according to the Japanese control screen, and Start or Select for status and pause. The cartridge supports Game Boy link and four-player adapter modes, so keep multiplayer states separate from the main campaign. Verify the loaded Game Boy build instructions when the public sources do not provide a complete control table. |

How it plays
Drive the tank through four main stages, destroy enemies and breakable walls, collect fuel, extra lives, and weapon upgrades, and defeat the bosses. Fire can cancel enemy bullets, and the campaign ends with a boss rush and final boss; multiplayer uses open arenas and scores for destroyed tanks.
Plan your run
Rotate the turret continuously in the rightward direction while moving independently, use shots to cancel incoming fire, and choose the weapon that fits the current boss rather than assuming the strongest spread is always best. Keep fuel and recovery items for the next stage, and practice the one-player route before link battles.
Totsugeki! Ponkotsu Tank is HAL Laboratory's Japanese Game Boy tank action shooter, known internationally as Trax. The story follows villagers who repair an abandoned tank and attack the Akuda Republic; the tank can move in eight directions, but its turret rotates only to the right. The game supports one-player stages and up to four-player link or adapter battles.
