How it plays

How does Volleyball play?

Matches use a side-view court and divide each team into front- and back-row players. The objective is to return the ball legally and score points when the opposing side fails to control it or sends it out of bounds. Players move beneath the ball, receive serves, set attacks, jump at the net, block, and spike.

The game is structured around individual matches rather than a long campaign. A solo player faces computer opponents, while two players can compete directly. Winning depends on anticipating the ball's trajectory, maintaining a useful formation, and choosing safe returns instead of attempting an attack on every possession.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Volleyball?

Move early so the controlled player is underneath the ball before attempting a return. Use controlled receptions to keep the ball near a teammate, then approach the net for a spike or block when the trajectory permits.

Avoid chasing every ball with the same player. Watch the opponent's front-row position, vary the direction of attacks, and favor reliable saves when the ball is near the sideline or baseline.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Learn the ball's arc before attempting aggressive spikes.

  2. 2

Keep returns high enough to give your team time to reposition.

  3. 3

Use the net and sidelines as visual references for judging distance.
