How it plays

How does Worms play?

Battles use a side-view perspective on destructible terrain. Teams take turns moving a worm, selecting a weapon, aiming, and firing before the turn timer expires. Terrain can be reshaped by explosions, creating cover or opening new routes.

The objective is to destroy every worm on the opposing team. Players progress through individual battle scenarios, using the available weapon inventory and environmental positions rather than character development or persistent statistics.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Worms?

Use the terrain as cover and avoid leaving several worms exposed to the same explosive attack.

  • Adjust both firing angle and power before committing to a shot.
  • Save specialized weapons for situations where ordinary projectiles cannot reach an opponent.
  • Move worms away from cliffs, water, and tightly grouped positions when possible.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Explosions can be used to create tunnels as well as to attack.

  2. 2

Plan the landing point of grenades and other indirect weapons, not only the initial target.

  3. 3

The limited Game Boy screen makes positioning near visible cover especially important.
