How it plays
Matches take place in a side-view ring. The objective is to wear down an opponent, knock them to the mat, and keep them pinned long enough for the referee to count three.
Players move around the ring, strike, grapple, throw opponents, and attempt pinfalls. The game supports solo play against the computer and two-player competition. Wrestler attributes and special attacks provide some variation, but there is no large campaign or extensive character progression.
Plan your run
Use movement to create space before attacking, then follow a successful strike with a grapple or throw. Avoid repeatedly trading blows when your wrestler is weakened.
Save pin attempts for moments when the opponent is clearly down. Against computer opponents, patience is useful: defend, punish missed attacks, and keep the fight near the center of the ring.

WWF WrestleMania is a professional-wrestling game developed by Rare and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. It presents licensed World Wrestling Federation wrestlers in compact one-on-one matches built around strikes, grapples, throws, and stamina management. The playable roster includes major stars such as Hulk Hogan, André the Giant, Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, Big Boss Man, and Ted DiBiase. Matches are viewed from a side-on perspective and emphasize direct arcade-style action rather than simulation. Contemporary reception was mixed: the recognizable roster and simple controls were appealing, but the limited moveset and repetitive match structure reduced its depth compared with later wrestling games.
