How it plays

How does Yie Ar Kung-Fu play?

The action is shown from a side view on a single screen. Oolong fights one opponent at a time, trying to deplete the enemy's life bar while avoiding attacks and maintaining a useful distance.

The player can walk, crouch, jump, punch, and kick. Different attacks reach different heights, so timing and positioning are central. After each victory, the game advances to another opponent with a distinct weapon or fighting style. The NES version is primarily a solo sequence of battles rather than a character-selection mode.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Yie Ar Kung-Fu?

Stay just outside the opponent's reach and attack when the enemy's animation leaves an opening. Crouching helps avoid some high attacks, while jumping can change distance and evade low attacks.

Use punches and kicks according to range rather than repeating one move. Watch each opponent's weapon pattern, block or retreat when necessary, and counter immediately after a missed attack.
