TURBOGRAFXCDAction1992
A CD-ROM add-on for the TurboGrafx-16, bringing larger games, animated scenes, voice acting, and CD-quality music to NEC's console.
The TurboGrafx-CD was the North American version of NEC's CD-ROM² expansion for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16. It combined the console's HuC6280-based hardware with a single-speed CD-ROM drive and additional system memory.
Its library helped establish CD-focused console design through enhanced role-playing, adventure, and action games with spoken dialogue, animated sequences, and redbook audio. The Japanese PC Engine CD-ROM² ecosystem was especially influential, although the TurboGrafx-CD received a smaller North American library.
