A haunted mansion, a spirit orb, and a worldwide monster tour

Among the games added to the catalog on 5 September 2026 are three distinct flavors of late-era console design. Capcom's Sweet Home brings five film crew members into a haunted mansion on the NES, I'Max's Dual Orb offers a Dragon Quest-style Japanese RPG on the SNES, and Avalanche Software's Rampage 2 sends its monsters across a worldwide tour of destructible city scenes on the Nintendo 64. Together they show how different the role-playing and arcade genres could look within the same five-year span.

Sweet Home sets a survival template

Sweet Home is a Japanese horror role-playing game developed and published by Capcom for the NES in 1989. Five members of a film crew enter the abandoned mansion of painter Ichirō Mamiya to recover valuable frescoes and become trapped by supernatural forces. The game combines overhead exploration, turn-based battles, item management, puzzles, and permanent character death, and its mansion setting and disturbing imagery made it an important early example of console horror design. Released only in Japan, it is widely regarded as a major influence on later survival-horror games through its party system, inventory puzzles, and cinematic presentation.

Dual Orb follows a quiet fantasy tradition

Dual Orb - Seirei Tama Densetsu is a 1993 Japanese Super Nintendo role-playing game developed and published by I'Max. The story follows a young hero drawn into the legend of the Seirei Tama, a spirit orb whose loss threatens the surrounding world. Gameplay uses a traditional overhead exploration view, town visits, dungeon navigation, random battles, and command-based combat, with progress coming from talking to residents, finding story items, and improving the party through equipment and experience. Its serious fantasy presentation and conventional Dragon Quest-style structure made it a recognizable late-era Japanese RPG, although its release remained limited to Japan.

Rampage 2 expands the destruction worldwide

Rampage 2: Universal Tour is a Nintendo 64 monster-destruction arcade game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Midway Home Entertainment. The USA release is dated January 3, 1999 in Nintendo 64 catalog data. Where the original confined its monsters to a single city, this entry sends them through a larger worldwide tour of destructible city scenes. The shift in scale is the clearest documented change between the two games.
