How it plays
Aldynes is viewed from the side as the player's spacecraft moves continuously through horizontally scrolling stages. The objective is to survive each stage, destroy enemy formations, avoid terrain and projectiles, and defeat a large boss at the end.
The ship can move freely within the play area and uses its primary weapon for regular attacks. A secondary attack or bomb provides additional firepower for dangerous situations. Progression is stage-based, with new enemy patterns, hazards, and bosses increasing the pressure as the mission advances.
Plan your run
Stay near the center of the play area when possible so there is room to react to enemies entering from either side of the visible formation. Prioritize threats that fire directly at the ship rather than harmless background targets.
Conserve the secondary weapon for dense projectile patterns, difficult enemy groups, and bosses. Learn each stage's hazard timing instead of relying on rapid movement, since abrupt repositioning can carry the ship into terrain or another enemy.
Meet the cast
The advanced combat fighter controlled by the player throughout the campaign.
The rogue artificial intelligence that serves as the main antagonist and threat to humanity.
Before you begin
Use small, deliberate movements when enemy bullets begin to overlap.
Watch the front of the scrolling screen for incoming formations and hazards.
Save the secondary attack for emergencies and boss phases.
Aldynes: The Mission Code for Rage Crisis is a side-scrolling science-fiction shoot 'em up developed and published by Hudson Soft for the PC Engine SuperGrafx. The player pilots a combat spacecraft through hostile mechanical forces and alien-looking environments while protecting the planet from a large-scale crisis. The game uses continuous horizontal scrolling, dense enemy formations, environmental hazards, and boss encounters. Its main appeal is the SuperGrafx hardware, which allows more elaborate sprites and effects than many standard PC Engine shooters. Aldynes received attention as a technically ambitious late-period SuperGrafx title, although its limited platform audience kept it relatively niche. It is now remembered chiefly as one of the system's more distinctive original shooters.
