How it plays
The player views Sarge from behind and guides him through missions set in miniature versions of everyday locations. Objectives include reaching targets, defeating Tan soldiers, rescuing allies, collecting equipment, and completing scripted operations.
Sarge can run, jump, use weapons, throw explosives, and enter selected vehicles. Missions introduce different weapons and enemy types as the campaign progresses. Multiplayer provides competitive split-screen battles with selectable arenas and combatants.
Plan your run
Use cover and keep moving when facing groups of Tan soldiers. Conserve powerful ammunition for armored enemies and bosses, and search corners for weapons and useful pickups.
Study the objective before advancing into a new area. In vehicle sections, use the vehicle's firepower to clear threats quickly, but dismount when narrow routes or switches require Sarge on foot.

Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 is a third-person action shooter developed and published by The 3DO Company for Nintendo 64. It follows Sarge and his squad as they fight Tan army forces across household environments, using firearms, explosives, vehicles, and improvised routes. The campaign combines direct combat with exploration and mission objectives rather than presenting a purely linear shooting gallery. Its colorful plastic-soldier setting gives the game a distinctive tone, while the console version emphasizes split-screen multiplayer alongside the story campaign. Reception was mixed, with the premise and varied environments receiving interest but controls, camera behavior, and technical limitations drawing criticism.
