How it plays

How does Bomberman 64 play?

Adventure mode presents a sequence of themed areas filled with enemies, switches, obstacles, collectibles, and boss encounters. Bomberman moves through open sections, places bombs, uses blast patterns to destroy targets, and solves puzzles that require careful timing or positioning.

The game also includes Battle mode, where players fight in enclosed arenas and use bomb explosions, power-ups, and stage hazards to eliminate opponents. Progression in Adventure mode comes from clearing areas, finding upgrades, and defeating bosses rather than from a conventional experience-level system.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Bomberman 64?

Use bombs to control space rather than placing them directly beside enemies. Learn each arena's blast paths, then use walls and corners to create safe escape routes.

In Adventure mode, search side paths for power-ups and collectibles before leaving an area. Against bosses, prioritize learning attack patterns and use bomb placement to punish recovery windows instead of attacking recklessly.
