How it plays

How does Castlevania play?

The game uses a third-person 3D perspective. Players explore connected stages, fight undead enemies and creatures, locate keys and switches, collect power-ups, and defeat bosses.

Reinhardt emphasizes close-range whip attacks, while Carrie relies more heavily on magical projectiles. The two characters share the basic campaign structure but have different weapons and combat approaches. Health, hearts, sub-weapons, time limits, and stage objectives shape progression through the adventure.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Castlevania?

Explore each area carefully before moving on. Keys, switches, healing items, and routes are often placed away from the most direct path.

Use the lock-on system to control spacing during combat, and learn enemy attack patterns before committing to melee range. Preserve sub-weapons and healing items for difficult encounters, and check alternate paths when a stage objective appears incomplete.
