How it plays
How does Cruis'n USA play?
The game uses a third-person chase perspective. The objective is to finish each point-to-point course before the timer expires and ahead of the computer-controlled or human opponents.
Players steer through traffic, use the accelerator and brake, and activate turbo boosts to gain speed. Courses include jumps, roadside obstacles, changing scenery, and branching-looking road details, but the structure remains a straightforward arcade race.
Single-player events unlock or lead to additional courses and vehicles through race performance. A two-player split-screen mode supports direct competition on available tracks.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Cruis'n USA?
Learn the rhythm of each course before spending turbo. A boost is most useful on a long straight or immediately after recovering from a jump, where it can create a meaningful gap.
Stay alert for traffic and roadside hazards. Braking briefly is often faster than colliding with another vehicle, especially on narrow sections where a crash costs valuable time.
Use the full width of the road when overtaking, but return to a stable line before jumps and sharp turns. In multiplayer, consistent driving is usually more effective than repeated risky boosts.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Use turbo on straights rather than entering a crowded corner at maximum speed.
- 2
A short brake can prevent a collision that would cost more time than it saves.
- 3
Practice difficult courses in single-player before racing them in split-screen.
