How it plays

How does Cruis'n USA play?

Players race along point-to-point courses viewed from behind the car. The objective is to finish ahead of rival drivers while avoiding civilian traffic, roadside obstacles, and sharp turns.

Courses progress through several American-themed environments and become more demanding as the player advances. Steering, acceleration, braking, and turbo management are the main skills. The Nintendo 64 version includes single-player racing and multiplayer modes for local competition.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Cruis'n USA?

Learn the corner sequence of each course before spending turbo. Use turbo on long straight sections or immediately after a difficult turn rather than activating it beside traffic.

Stay near the center of the road when possible, brake early for tight bends, and use the practice-oriented early races to learn shortcuts, jumps, and obstacle placement.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Save turbo for straightaways and recoveries after collisions.

  2. 2

Brake before sharp turns instead of trying to steer through them at full speed.

  3. 3

In multiplayer, watch traffic and obstacles as closely as the opposing cars.
