How it plays

How does The 4th Super Robot Wars play?

Battles take place on grid-based maps viewed from an overhead perspective. The player moves allied units, selects attacks, manages energy and ammunition, and ends each turn while enemy forces act in sequence.

Missions usually require defeating opposing units, protecting an ally, or meeting a story condition. Pilots gain experience, robots can be upgraded between stages, and available units and events change as the campaign progresses. Intermission menus handle repairs, upgrades, equipment, and story conversations.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play The 4th Super Robot Wars?

Prioritize upgrading a dependable core of units instead of spreading funds across the entire roster. Super robots are useful for durable close combat, while real robots generally benefit from range, mobility, and accuracy.

Check enemy weapons and movement before ending a turn. Preserve energy and ammunition for mission objectives, use terrain and defensive positioning, and allow weaker pilots to secure safe experience when possible. Save funds for units that remain available across several stages.
